Swimming in the Shallows

29 Jun 2010 - 30 Jun 2010

Written by: Adam Bock
Director: Paul Tully

Swimming in the Shallows is a comedy by Adam Bock. Few places would it make emotional sense for a man to be in love with a shark. Whether that shark is real, metaphorical, or some combination of the two is open to interpretation. In this surreal, unconventional play Barb finds out that Buddhist monks in Thailand only own eight things – and wonders if that is all she wants. She starts giving away her things but her husband Bob keeps buying her new ones. Donna wants Carla Carla to marry her, but Carla Carla doesn’t like it that Donna smokes. And Nick meets a shark at an aquarium – they go on a date but Nick tries not to sleep with the shark too fast. There are dream sequences, a wedding and of course, swimming.

Cast Includes: Year 13 Drama pupils.
