Captain Stirrick image

Set in London at the beginning of the 19th Century, Captain Stirrick tells the dramatic story of the child-thief Ned Stirrick and his infant gang of pickpockets as they plunder the rich in order to survive.  Set against the colourful backdrop of London’s Bartholomew Fair, the musical is an unusual tale of fantasy and intrigue.  A gripping story with a ballad score that strongly evokes the atmosphere of the London underworld.

These amateur performances are presented by arrangement with Joseph Weinberger Ltd.

Whether that shark is real, metaphorical, or some combination of the two is open to interpretation. In this surreal, unconventional play Barb finds out that Buddhist monks in Thailand only own eight things – and wonders if that is all she wants. She starts giving away her things but her husband Bob keeps buying her new ones. Donna wants Carla Carla to marry her, but Carla Carla doesn’t like it that Donna smokes. And Nick meets a shark at an aquarium – they go on a date but Nick tries not to sleep with the shark too fast. There are dream sequences, a wedding and of course, swimming.
