Rachel has a new job. It’s in the factory where her mother and older sister work. It’s where all the women work. But not the men. Because the men don’t work where Rachel lives. One day a girl from the factory is murdered. Her body found, laid out in the road for all to see. Then another woman vanishes. Something is happening in Rachel’s town. Something between the women and the men.

Martin Crimp’s play presents ”17 scenarios for the theatre” in which nameless characters give conflicting accounts of a central character who never appears. The absent Anne is depicted as a terrorist, a porn star, a new make of car, a refugee and a contemporary artist.
Translated into more than 20 languages since its first performance at the Royal Court in 1997, this bold and innovative play examines both the ideas of what defines human existence, and indeed, what constitutes a play.

With a lyrical blending of human passion and a poetic vision of nature, Precious Bane tells the story of Prue Sarn - living in the wild hill country of Shropshire in the early nineteenth century, a passionate girl, cursed with a hare lip – her ‘precious bane’, which sets her aside from the superstitious society in which she lives. Prue’s hopeless love for the weaver Kester Woodseaves is set against the tragic drama of her ambitious brother Gideon.

I have become a huge advocate for the film training at ArtsEd, as both an observer and occasional guest artist. I am constantly impressed by the performance and production output, which are of the highest professional standards. There is no better grounding for a career in acting.
