Dance and Drama Awards to continue for final year

10 January 2012

The Dance and Drama Awards (DaDAs) are scholarships funded by the Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA). They are awarded by the school to the students who display the most potential to succeed in the profession.

For the past year the DaDAs have been under review by a group comprising the Department for Education, the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), the Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA) and the Skills Funding Agency.  The review team has elected to take more time to consider how best to provide support for the most talented young people intending to undertake specialist dance and drama training in the UK, consequently any new funding arrangements have been postponed until September 2013.  This means that the DaDA scheme will run for a final transitional year (2012/13) and students with exceptional talent who are accepted for courses beginning in September 2012 will be eligible for awards under the DaDA scheme, and will be funded to the end of their courses.

I saw the screening at BAFTA and the acting and production value of ArtsEd’s films were superb.
